Tatkal Waiting List Cancellation Charges refer to the fees that passengers have to pay when canceling their tickets under the Tatkal quota with a waiting list status. The Tatkal scheme allows passengers to book tickets at short notice, but there are limited seats available.
In case a passenger’s ticket remains on the waiting list even after the chart preparation, they have the option to cancel it. However, a cancellation charge is applicable. These charges vary depending on the class of travel and the time of cancellation.
The Tatkal ticketing window opens 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train, allowing passengers to book tickets for immediate travel. However, passengers often encounter different booking statuses such as waitlist, RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), or not obtaining desired berths when opting for Tatkal tickets.
In certain emergency situations, passengers who have already booked Tatkal tickets may need to cancel their travel plans. This could be due to unforeseen circumstances or changes in their itinerary. In such cases, passengers have the option to cancel their Tatkal tickets, although cancellation charges may apply depending on the time of cancellation and the class of travel.
