Customs Holiday List refers to a schedule of holidays recognized by the Customs department of a particular country. These holidays are observed by the department, and all Customs activities, such as clearance and inspection, are halted on these days. Customs Holiday List is usually published in advance to inform businesses, importers, and exporters of the days when Customs activities will not take place, allowing them to plan accordingly.
The Central Government has released a comprehensive list of holidays for CG offices located in Delhi and throughout India for the year 2023. The list comprises 17 gazetted holidays; however, only 14 holidays have been declared to give precedence to State-level festivals and occasions. The remaining 3 holidays will be determined by the appropriate State level committee (CGEWCC). This decision was made to provide flexibility to different states and enable them to recognize and celebrate their local festivals and customs. By prioritizing State-level holidays, the Central Government is promoting cultural diversity and inclusivity, while also ensuring that government offices operate efficiently and effectively throughout the year.
