About Jan Suraksha Yojana
Jansuraksha Scheme or Jan Dhan Se Jan Suraksha Yojana is a flagship scheme of the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This Jan Suraksha scheme is basically a combination of 3 schemes namely PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana or PMJJBY scheme is a one year cover Term Life Insurance Scheme, renewable from year to year, offering life insurance cover for death due to any reason. Rs.2 lakhs is payable on a subscriber’s death due to any reason. The premium payable
is Rs. 436 per annum per subscriber (earlier Rs. 330 p.a). The scheme would be offered / administered through LIC and other Life Insurance companies willing to offer the product with necessary approvals on similar terms, in collaboration with participating Banks.
Participating banks will be free to engage any such life insurance company for implementing the scheme for their subscribers. All savings bank account holders in the age 18 to 50 years in participating banks will be entitled to join. In case of multiple saving bank accounts held by an individual in one or different banks, the person would be eligible to join the scheme through one savings bank account only.
PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
PM Suraksha Bima Yojana or PMSBY scheme will be a one year cover Personal Accident Insurance Scheme, renewable from year to year, offering protection against death or disability due to accident. Premium payable is Rs. 20 per annum per member (earlier Rs. 12 per annum).

All savings bank account holders in the age 18 to 70 years in participating banks will be entitled to join. In case of multiple saving bank accounts held by an individual in one or different banks, the person would be eligible to join the scheme through one savings bank account only.
Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
Atal Pension Yojana or APY Scheme is a pension scheme for citizens of India, is focused on the unorganised sector workers. Under the APY, guaranteed minimum pension of Rs. 1,000/- or 2,000/- or 3,000/- or 4,000 or 5,000/- per month will be given at the age of 60 years depending on the contributions by the subscribers. Any Citizen of India can join APY scheme. The following are the eligibility criteria:-
- The age of the subscriber should be between 18 – 40 years.
- He / She should have a savings bank account/ post office savings bank account
The prospective applicant may provide Aadhaar and mobile number to the bank during registration to facilitate receipt of periodic updates on APY account. However, Aadhaar is not mandatory for enrolment.
