List of Leap Years and how to Calculate

"Leap Year List" refers to a compilation of all the leap years in a specific range, leap years are identified by the following criteria: a year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except for years that are divisible by 100 but not divisible by 400

Leap Years List

Leap Years List: A leap year is a year that contains an additional day, known as a leap day, to keep the calendar year synchronized with the astronomical year. Leap years are necessary to account for the fact that the Earth takes approximately 365.25 days to orbit the Sun. To maintain accuracy, an extra day, February 29th, is added to the calendar every four years.

A leap year, also known as an intercalary year, is a year in the calendar that includes an extra day to maintain synchronization with the astronomical or seasonal year. Since astronomical events and seasons do not occur in whole numbers of days, calendars with a fixed number of days per year would eventually drift over time, losing alignment with the events they are meant to track, such as the changing seasons.

How to Calculate Leap Year

Leap years occur every four years. They consist of 366 days, one day more than the standard 365-day year. This additional day is inserted into the month of February, resulting in a new date: the 29th of February. This unique date only occurs once in every four-year cycle, and it helps synchronize the calendar year with the astronomical year.
Calculation of a Leap Year
Leap year : A leap year has 366 number of days in total, and there is a difference of 4 between two consecutive leap years. To calculate a leap year, divide the given year by 4, if it is completely divisible by 4, it is a leap year.
Examples:
Check 2042 will be a leap year or not?
Now divide 2042 by 4, we get 2 as a remainder which means 2042 is not divisible by 4. Thus
2042 is not a leap year
Check 1996 will be a leap year or not?
Now divide 1996 by 4, we get 0 as a remainder which means 1996 is divisible by 4. Thus 1996 is a leap year.
Procedure to check whether a year is leap year or not is given below in the flow chart.
