The Mars Mission Scientists are a group of dedicated researchers and experts who have contributed significantly to the study and exploration of Mars. Their expertise spans various fields, including planetary science, astrophysics, geology, and aerospace engineering.
Mars Mission scientists work diligently to analyze data from Mars missions, interpret the geological and atmospheric conditions, and gain insights into the planet’s history and potential for supporting life. Their research helps shape future missions, advances our understanding of Mars’ mysteries, and paves the way for potential human exploration.
Mars Orbiter Mission
The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also known as Mangalyaan, was a space probe launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on 5 November 2013. Its mission was to orbit Mars and gather valuable scientific data. On 24 September 2014, MOM successfully entered Mars’ orbit, making India the first Asian nation to achieve this feat and the fourth space agency in the world to do so.
This landmark mission marked India’s first interplanetary endeavor and showcased its capabilities in space exploration. The Mars Orbiter Mission paved the way for future space missions and furthered our understanding of the Red Planet.
The Mars Orbiter Mission probe was launched from the First Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (Sriharikota Range SHAR), Andhra Pradesh, using a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket C25 at 09:08 UTC on 5 November 2013. The launch window spanned approximately 20 days, starting on 28 October 2013.
During its journey, the MOM probe spent about a month in Earth orbit, conducting seven apogee-raising orbital maneuvers. On 30 November 2013 (UTC), it underwent trans-Mars injection, initiating its journey towards Mars. After a transit period of 298 days, the probe successfully entered Mars orbit on 24 September 2014.
