President’s Police Medal 2023 List on Occasion of Independence Day
On the occasion of Independence Day 2023, a total of 954 police personnel were honored with Police Medals. The lists containing details of the awardees are enclosed below.

President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM)
On the occasion of Independence Day 2023, a grand total of 954 Police personnel have been honored with Police Medals. Among them, one CRPF personnel received the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), while 229 individuals were awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG). Additionally, 82 outstanding individuals were presented with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and 642 recipients were honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).
Out of the total of 230 Gallantry Awards, commendations are being bestowed upon 125 individuals from Left Wing Extremism-affected regions, 71 from the Jammu & Kashmir region, and 11 from the North East region for their courageous endeavors.
Among the recipients of these Gallantry Awards, 28 belong to the CRPF, 33 hail from Maharashtra, 55 represent the J&K Police, 24 originate from Chhattisgarh, 22 come from Telangana, and 18 belong to Andhra Pradesh. The remaining recipients come from various other States/Union Territories and Central Armed Police Forces.
The President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) are bestowed in recognition of remarkable acts of bravery in safeguarding life and property, preventing criminal activities, or apprehending wrongdoers.
The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) is granted for an exceptional and distinguished record of service in the police force, while the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) is awarded for outstanding contributions marked by dedication and resourcefulness in fulfilling duties.
