The Indian Railways operates the Vande Bharat Express, formerly known as Train 18, which is an electric multiple-unit train. Safety concerns limit the train’s operating speed to 130 km/h (81 mph) on most routes, with the exception of the Delhi-Bhopal route, which allows 160 km/h, and the Delhi-Jaipur route, which allows 150 km/h. During testing, the train reached a maximum speed of 180 km/h (110 mph).
However, due to constraints such as railway track speed capacity and traffic, the actual running speeds of Vande Bharat Express are not faster than other express trains in India. The average speeds at which Vande Bharat trains run are between 64 kmph and 95 kmph.
The government-owned Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai manufactured the Vande Bharat Express, designed by RDSO. The train’s design and specifications have been standardized by RDSO with low-cost maintenance and operational optimization in mind. The cost of a 16-coach Vande Bharat train is around ₹115 crore (US$14 million).

Train Route:
The train will start from New Delhi to Varanasi and make stops at Kanpur and Allahabad.

The train leaves New Delhi at 6 am and arrives in Varanasi at 2 pm. It departs from Varanasi at 3 pm and reaches New Delhi at 11 pm. The train trip reduces travel time from 13 hours to 8 hours. However, it does not run on Mondays and Thursdays.
New Delhi Amb Andura in Himachal Pradesh Vande Bharat Express
Route:
Inaugurated in October 2022, the train travels from New Delhi to Himachal Pradesh, stopping at Ambala, Chandigarh, and Anandpur Sahib before finally reaching its destination of Una.
Ticket Cost:
The price of the ticket ranges from Rs 1,000 ($12) to Rs 2,000 ($24).
Schedule and Timings:
The train departs from New Delhi railway station at 5:50 am and arrives at Amb Anandaura at 11 am. It then departs from Amb Anandaura at 1 pm and reaches New Delhi at 6:25 pm.
The train runs every weekday except for Fridays.
New Delhi Shri mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express
Route:
The train journey from New Delhi to Katra has been shortened, enabling faster travel to Vaishno Devi in just 8 hours instead of the previous 9.5-hour duration. The train makes stops at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, and Jammu Tawi along the way.
Ticket Cost:
Rs 1,000 ($12) to Rs 3,000 ($ 36.5)
Schedule and Timings:
The train commences its journey from Delhi at 6 am and arrives at Katra at 2 pm. After departing from Katra at 3 pm, it reaches Delhi by 11 pm. The train is operational on all weekdays except Tuesdays.
Gandhinagar Mumbai Vande Bharat Express
Route:
The train was launched in September 2022 and it travels from Gandhinagar to Mumbai, making stops at Surat, Vadodara Junction, and Ahmedabad Junction.
Ticket Cost:
The ticket prices range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000.
Schedule:
Except on Sundays, the train is operational on all weekdays.
Nagpur Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express
Route:
Travelling from Nagpur to Bilaspur, this train makes stops at Raipur, Durg, and Gondia.

The cost of tickets for this train ranges from Rs 1,000 ($12) to Rs 2,000 ($24).
Schedule and Timing:
The train was launched in December 2022 and departs from Nagpur at 2:05 pm, arriving at Bilaspur at 7:35 pm. On the return journey, it leaves Bilaspur Junction at 6:45 am and reaches Nagpur Junction at 12:15 pm. The train runs on all weekdays except Saturdays.
Mumbai Shirdi Vande Bharat Express

Chennai Mysuru Vande Bharat Express
